We've looked at some crown mouldings lately so I thought we would take a look at some ceiling medallions today.
This medallion was created in 1998 for a client in Texas. It was designed sort of as an afterthought. The room it was designed for took a lot of planning and construction but it originally did not have ceiling medallions. The room was so large the the chandeliers were going to look very out of place by themselves. I began looking through my leftover boxes of compo and created this design. I never put it to paper. I just took pieces and played with them till I got what I wanted. I cast all the pieces in the dining room as we worked on the living room. The homeowners absolutely loved it, or should I say both of them.
So did other clients who saw it. Of all the medallions I have created and sold this one believe it or not is my number one seller. I never thought I would sell another one nor had planned to. This medallion seems to steal the hearts of my clients and graces the ceilings of several homes we have worked in.
It is 10 feet in diameter and the centerpiece drops about 18 inches off the ceiling. Let's call this medallion number 3001.
Medallion 3002 was designed for a large
ceiling in 1999. Four of these medallions were in the original ceiling design. At 32
inches across this particular medallion has a trim ring added to it making it about 36" in diameter.
