Did you know...What is all the resolution about?
A printer has 4 favorite colors, and they are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, or CMYK. When an item is printed in full color, it has been printed using CMYK inks (yes there are exceptions, but work with us). Think about it. Your little ink jet printer at home has 4 ink cartridges and prints in CMYK. The difference is there is a whole different process used

at the printers with 4 metal plates (one for each color) being pressed onto the paper to get the final result, instead of 4 little spray nozzles shooting ink at the paper. Impress your designer the next time you have a color project and ask for a 4/4 brochure, which means CMYK inks on both sides of the paper stock. RGB, which stands for Red, Green and Blue, is how images are captured with a digital camera. Any image that is going to be printed in full color will at some point need to be converted to CMYK from RGB. Your graphic designer will take care of these conversions but you should be aware of it for those little in-house projects. To achieve better print results, even on your workhorse laser, use a program like Adobe Photoshop to convert the files to the proper formats to achieve the best results. You may surprise yourself.
